MUAY THAI BORAN SOUTH AFRICA
MSA promotes and develops the martial art and sport of Muaythai Boran, an ancient traditional Thai form of combat, and it derivatives, now practiced by men and women of all ages, internationally as a sport; and form of physical fitness.
South Africa’s national Muaythai Boran Association is registered with Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) and internationally with the World Muaythai Federation (WMF), the Kru Muaythai Association in Thailand, the Association Institute of Thai Martial Arts (AITMA) and has been appointed as the Muaythai Conservation Centre for South Africa, representing the Institute Conservation Centre of Thailand.
MSA is the only Muaythai Boran association recognised in South Africa.
THE NATIONAL TEAM
The MSA team is selected through qualification during the competitive season, the “RED SEASON”.The competitive season of 2013 ended in November 2013. Stay posted for info on 2014 season
In 2013, FOUR tournaments, from March to November, were used to select one champion. A single representative per weight division is selected to represent South Africa in the World Championships.
Through its ties to the Royal Thai Embassy, MSA also hosts annually the Ambassadors Cup, which is a tribute to the Ambassador of Thailand in South Africa and has its roots from the King’s Cup in Thailand, a tribute to the King of Thailand.
MSA also has a professional wing in which athletes compete under the professional wing of the World Muaythai Federation.
